Originally from Northern Ireland, Emily moved to London in 2015. A singer-songwriter, she completed her Certificate of Higher Education in Songwriting and has also achieved a distinction in Grade 5 Music Theory as well as two Grade 8 examinations in Piano and Voice. After taking a few gap years – spending two summers working with After School Nannies – Emily started a History BA degree course in 2018. When not studying she tutors SEN children and young people in English and History, specialising in working with those with dyslexia and also teaches primary music classes. Emily has always been interested in child development and would one day like to like to combine her passions for academia, music and childcare to become a specialised mentor for children and young people.
Emily’s workshops will be tailored according to each child with an introductory session to discover where their interests lie and take it from there! Alongside instrumental/vocal Emily also has a background in percussion, particularly in African and Samba drumming. She finds that the teaching of these polyrhythms can engage any child or young person in music. Emily aims to use these fun sessions to help children realise their musical and artistic potential through sound and words – the aim is to have a piece of music or song, written together, to present at the end of the session. A product to be proud of for sure!
